Celebrating Craftsmanship Window Display

Here at Willow & Stone we aim to sell thoughtfully designed products. This window display looked to celebrate the quality craftsmanship that goes into much of our goods.

Because many of the team and the wider Cornwall community are makers, the display was a nod to the spaces we create for our crafts. To form these imagined spaces we mixed antique originals and props we have collected over the years, alongside products which we clustered by supplier and theme.

To represent the hand finishing of our period ironmongery our workshop display included tools, fittings and screws with a selection of our traditional Door Knobs and quality Cabinet Knobs. Sourced from a small number of carefully selected foundries, much of our ironmongery is made in the UK and is all produced and finished to the highest standard.

Alongside we showcased our collectable Maileg Toys as part of a sewing area with a original Singer sewing machine. Maileg (pronounced My’lye) is a Danish toy designer who make playful soft toys that can be cherished for generations. Their collection includes mice sleeping in matchboxes, beautiful rabbits and jungle animals, all full of character and created with meticulous attention to detail.

Below our antique workbench we featured upcycled antiques, solid oak homewares and household brushes. We love these upcycled products because they are full of charm, a great talking point, beautiful and practical. They are created by a small company based in the North of England who have been adapting antique bobbins and shuttles into household products for the last 40 years. Salvaged from factories and cotton mills, products include light pulls crafted from bobbins and kitchen roll holders adapted from shoe lasts. These products enable customers to own an original piece of British history while adding character to the home.

Our window display also hinted at a textile designers studio, with socks by Royal College of Art textile graduate Catherine Tough hanging next to balls of yarn. Catherine turns ethically sourced yarn which complies with animal welfare policies and 5 freedoms into playful, modern knitwear pieces that are a pleasure to wear!

Our second window focused on the fairtrade lifestyle products supplied by our neighbours based in Devon, Nkuku. Nkuku work with artisans across continents producing handmade, stylish products that celebrate traditional craftsmanship.

Each product holds a story of its own, working with over 100 artisans utilising their individual talents. The range includes ceramics, woven baskets, glassware and brassware. Find these products as part of our Homeware collection.
