Quantity of Small Edwardian Glazed Taylor's Mustard Pots
A quantity of Taylors Mustard pots from around c.1910.
A quantity of Taylors Mustard pots from around c.1910. Each one in good condition with black text reading 'Taylor's Prepared Mustard Newport Pagnall' also with a trademark motif to the back.
Chemist pots and preserve jars such as these are highly collectable thanks to their decorative appeal and nostaglic texts. Our current collection consists of some excellent designs that we feel are sturdy enough to be in use. They are a welcome alternative to modern ceramic 'holders' being genuine, characterful and unique.
Each bears the label describing it's contents along with the name of company for which it was made. The transfer printed labels were applied prior to the glaze and firing so would not wear off or fade - hence their survival for over a hundred years!
They were found by a Cornishman who has spent many years scouring forgotten waste disposal sites countrywide. They have sat buried beneath rubbish damps for over 100 years and are in remarkable condition.
