Light Antique Brass Maintenance

A subtle antique finish that is hand applied giving individual character to each piece. This finish, new for 2021, bridges the gap between the somewhat dark and textured ‘Distressed Antique Brass’ and the lighter matt ‘satin brass’. Light Antique Brass has the naturally warm tone of the brass with a soft slightly darker patina applied which will naturally continue to age. Normal wear and handling will highlight the raised areas to reveal the solid brass below adding to the patina.

Its worth noting that this is a ‘living’ finish which changes with use and time. To maintain light antique brass simply apply a light coating of beeswax polish if required. Never use cleaning agents as this will remove the applied antique finish. However as the product beneath the ‘finish’ is crafted from solid brass, any scratches that reveal the brass will tarnish over time and so dull down enhancing the authentic light antique look.

The matching screws are solid brass (a reasonably soft metal) so use a pilot screw to make the hole so that minimal pressure is put on the screws themselves.

These products are all made in a fabulous UK foundry which has been producing exemplary ironmongery for well over 100 years.
