Supporting Sea Sanctuary Charity
Back in April this year we managed to raise a whopping £1400 for our chosen charity, Sea Sanctuary, via an in-store raffle as part of our Spring Sale evening. We couldn’t have done this without the amazing turnout from you, our loyal customers and also the incredibly generous donations from a myriad of other local businesses who offered prizes. Huge thanks too, to my staff at W&S, who worked long hours selling tickets, spreading the word and preparing the evening for an amazing turnout!
We recently received an update from Sea Sanctuary HQ informing us that the previous bursary set up with the raffle funds have been fully spent and included people attending the Sail into Life Anchor programmes, art workshops, attending the Chi Kung programme and other one-to-one workshops.
Willow & Stone will now be donating a further £1000 to help maintain the bursary and specifically aid individuals on low or no income gain access to mental health support and workshops.
In More Detail
Sea Sanctuary is an innovative marine-based not-for-profit registered mental health charity founded in 2006 and is one of a kind. Amongst other projects, Sea Sanctuary use workshops and sailing programmes to give vital psychological support to many individuals living both locally and further afield allowing people to work together and build confidence and self belief.
‘Using the setting of the sea, our mission is to develop and maintain peoples’ positive mental health and wellbeing through the medium of sail training and health education.
Our aim is to reach individuals, children, young people and adults in communities who are struggling with mental health such as anxiety, depression, self-injurious behaviour or various forms of personality disorder.
We provide education and help to some of the most vulnerable people in society, many of whom have no other support whatsoever and for whom life is often difficult. Our health education programme has been designed to empower people and to help them better understand their illness. We also help people move away from maladjusted coping strategies such as self-harm or alcohol misuse and to adopt new and healthier techniques. However before we look at any of our educational programmes, we start with the basics; empathy, compassion and kindness. These are the foundational stones upon which our award-winning mental health service is based.’ (Sea Sanctuary)

We are also holding another in-house-raffle as part of our special ‘Falmouth Festive Fiesta’ evening on November 9th (6pm – 9pm) – the proceeds of this raffle will of course continue to support Sea Sanctuary. Find out more about the evening here.
