‘The Creative’ Window Display by Sian

Fliss and I hold regular window display meetings to sketch out initial themes as well as a plan of listing the required products, props and colours for our monthly shop window display. Our usual goal is to illustrate a collection of beautiful products that we sell in store and online in a variety of ways, capturing our customers and passers by imaginations. Sarah always encourages us to think outside of the box and helps us to refine concepts once the initial idea has been formed.
This months display we had unanimously agreed that an installation expressing a typical designer / makers studio would be a great way to showcase our new beautiful oak shelf ladder, in store stationary and interior accessories. This theme is also in keeping with all of the inspiring independent designer studio spaces that can be discovered on Instagram.
The beautiful blue brush stroke backdrop was to act as a canvas to work from (we loved the result that Fliss created so much, that some of us want to use this technique on a wall at home!)
Both Fliss and I studied Textile Design and so a list of related props quickly formed including rolls of Indian patterned fabric, colour swatches and original artwork from both staff members work Otti Home and A Pelicans Daughter. This made the installation feel all the more realistic, demonstrating the creative thought process which occurs in design work. We also added to the look with Rifle Paper Co & Paddywax Stationary and candles which are firm favourites in store.
