Burnished Brass Maintenance
A SIMPLE GUIDE TO CARING FOR YOUR BURNISHED BRASS PRODUCTS

About the finish
Our Burnished Brass products are crafted from solid brass and undergo a carefully controlled accelerated ageing process to develop a rich, characterful tone. Each piece is then barrelled to create a soft, gently textured surface, resulting in a unique and distinctive burnished appearance.
To preserve this finish, every product is sealed with a high-quality matt lacquer. This protective layer helps maintain the colour and reduces natural tarnishing, ensuring the finish remains consistent over time.
Suitability
Suitable for interior and exterior use.
As this finish is lacquered, it’s protected from the elements and suitable for use outside without rusting or tarnishing.
The life of the lacquer can be affected by environmental and atmospheric conditions. In coastal or harsher environmental property locations extra care should be taken or an alternative finish chosen.
Maintenance
Avoid the use of chemical cleaners, abrasive materials, or harsh cleaning products, as these can damage the protective lacquer. To maintain, clean regularly using a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. From time to time wipe with a damp cloth, allow to dry and then apply a light layer of oil or our maintenance wax, and buff gently. This will improve the longevity of the lacquer.
For moving parts (such as hinges and handles) apply a light oil, on a regular basis to ensure smooth operation. This is especially important during initial installation to maximise mechanical performance and lifespan.
Top Tips
Always use a soft cloth to avoid scratching the lacquer. Less is more: gentle, regular cleaning is better than occasional heavy cleaning.
Burnished Brass offers a refined, understated alternative to more traditional polished or aged brass finishes, pair with subtle neutrals and earthy tones for a warm, timeless look.
