A forged steel Suffolk latch (or thumb latch) with bean shaped ends. Treated with a rustic black beeswax finish. This style thumb latch became popular in the 18th century and was widely used up until the 19th century and is an authentic replica from this period.The rustic black beeswax finish is a very traditional finish suitable for internal use. However, it does require a light polish with beeswax from time to time to prevent rusting.
