Hand Forged

Forged Suffolk latch (or thumb latch) with bean shaped ends. Treated with a rustic black beeswax finish that helps protects the metal and creates beautiful rich tones. This style door latch became popular in the 18th century and was widely used up until the 19th century. Perfect for internal doors and cupboards.

  • Handle length: 210mm
  • Thumb bar length: 140mm
  • Latch length: 190mm
  • Maximum door thickness: 55mm
  • Forged from steel and finished with beeswax
  • Hammered into shape from mild steel using a traditional anvil and fire manufacturing method
  • Typically used in conjunction with a T hinge on traditional plank doors
  • Supplied with matching SS wood screws
